Yeah, you pretty much hit the nail right on the head with this one. The underlying causes of social justice are all fine and good, but I'm not exactly a fan of the more authoritarian route a lot of people have taken (i.e. making White males the source of all problems, and that all groups supposedly universally oppressed by them can do no wrong). As a fan of discussion and social discourse, it's pretty disheartening to see what organizations like Buzzfeed (hard to say that without having bile in my mouth) and MTV are saying and doing, which only serves to deepen the divide between people, and create even more bad blood between groups than there should be. That's part of the reason why I'm also not a fan of social justice warriors (emphasis of my dislike for the "warrior" part), who, more often than not want to fight people they dislike, rather than try and understand even the viewpoints that slightly differ from theirs. (lets out huge disheartened sigh for the sake of humanity)
But then we've got a comic like the one you've made here, which gives me a bit more faith in the idea that there are still sane people in existence. Thank you, mate! (sorry if this was a bit long and rambly)

What voodoo magic do you use to create such awesome looking environments?!
I envy you, good sir!

Well shit... Another artist to be inspired by...
Seriously though, pretty amazing work

RobStanley responds:

Thank you!

Makes me think of a blend between the Great Old One, Cthulu and Abhoth, one of the Outer Gods (best described in this passage from Clark Ashton Smith's "Seven Greases":

"There were things like bodiless legs or arms that flailed in the slime, or heads that rolled, or floundering bellies with fishes' fins; and all manner of things malformed and monstrous, that grew in size as they departed from the neigbborhood of Abhoth."

But yeah, I think you perfectly captured both the epic scale and terror of Lovecraftian and Cosmic horror with this piece. Good job mate!

Xaltotun responds:

I really like this idea that cosmic horrors from higher dimensions tend to appear as disembodied limbs and tentacles to us.

First thing I thought when I read the title of the piece was the song "Moth," by the band Hellyeah. Pretty interesting use of colors and linework. That, and the symmetry almost makes it look like one of those stained glass designs.

This has a very Lovecraftian vibe to it, like it's a figment of cosmic horror, but related to technology. I say that because I've recently been on a Cthulhu-Mythos kick recently, learning about the various awesomely vile monsters and figures from Lovecraft and other contributors to the twisted fictional world. I feel like this image fits very well with that whole concept.
As far as the actual drawing aspect of it, I can really say that the shading and line-work adds an almost wood-cuttery feeling to the piece, which only adds to the organic nature of the creature. Definitely well deserving of the front page.

YannuNG responds:

Thank you very much for this great review!

I've finally realized the reason why I like your style so much. You have a really cool way of using colors in a lot of your works of art. Really nice and vibrant.

It's oddly mesmerizing and hypnotic, in a [ummmm-- error 404, word not found] kind of way.
That aside, I kinda like how you drew her hair.

ZeTrystan responds:

Loop animation always have that little hypnotic thing. I wonder why. :)
And thanks! I improvised her hair like hell, hahaha.

Wow-- that is-- genuinely impressive. Really nice use of colors too. Creates a really nice atmosphere with the warm glow of a sunset/rise, and the probably cold to the touch stone that makes up the castle and the surrounding rock. I have a newfound respect for the medium of pixel art.

Truly, delightfully creepy. I envy the level of detail you've put into all of it.
